Dirk Maritz
Concept & Development Chef, Nestlé PTC Singen


After formal education at the Technikon Free State Hotel School, Dirk focused his trade and skills towards culinary arts and eventually participated with new hotel openings and the upgrading of establishments. His career path was influenced by guidance and mentorship by Chef Billy Gallagher, which led him to working in Sheraton, Sun International and Southern Sun. During his time at Southern Sun (Tsogo Sun) as a Brand Development Chef for the Garden Court brand, he was able to give back to the industry with the development and growth of all levels of the kitchen brigade within 17 hotels. Dirk then joined Nestlé Professional at the Product Technology Centre in Germany where he was given the opportunity to learn more about the food science, food technologies and production. Dirk quotes cuisine understanding and knowledge sharing as his key drivers for his current position where he is developing global products under the different brands of Nestlé.
